Winter Flight School Retreat 2022

SONGLEADER’S RETREAT
FOR FLIGHT SCHOOL STUDENTS & GRADS
MARCH 3-6, 2022

All current and past students of Flight School cohorts are invited to attend this in-person songleading retreat in Carmel Valley, CA this March. You’ll join a group of activated, inspiring Flight Schoolers from around the country for a weekend of singing and songleading practice. This is an irreplaceable and rich time of connection, song harvesting and opportunities to practice your skills from the course with other singers.

We will gather at Hidden Valley Music Seminars from Thursday afternoon March 3rd through Sunday afternoon, March 6th.

Covid Protocols

We recognize that with the new variant, Covid-related risks are ever-shifting, so we will dynamically monitor the situation and make any modifications to our plans and protocols as needed. As of now, we plan to hold this container with the following safety precautions:

  • We honor your personal preferences, however to be in compliance with the venue’s requirements we are requiring proof of full Covid vaccination for this event. If you haven’t chosen to get vaccinated or have an exemption, please wait till the next retreat to join us.
  • All participants will be rapid tested upon arrival.
  • Should you exhibit symptoms of illness immediately prior to or during the event, we’ll ask you to sit this one out and you will be fully refunded.
  • High-quality commercial HEPA filters have been installed in all indoor spaces. We will also keep our spaces well ventilated and sing outside as often as weather allows.
  • This is a mask-optional event. Free singers masks will be available at the event.

Hidden Valley Music Seminars has been hosting in-person, musical and singing retreats since June 2021 without a single incidence of Covid transmission.  If these protocols are within your comfort zone, we welcome you at this retreat! If not, we love you and please stay tuned for the next one.

Should a significant national surge in Covid cases take place around the time of our gathering, we will re-evaluate our situation and may elect to cancel or reschedule. Should the event be cancelled, you will be refunded for all but $50. Thank you for understanding this fee helps cover our lost expenses. Alternately, you may maintain your full credit by transferring your fees to a rescheduled date, if offered. If traveling by air to this event, we recommend finding travel insurance that covers event cancellation. Thank you for your understanding.

Retreat Accommodations & Pricing

Hidden Valley Music Seminars is a beautiful, music-focused retreat center. Most rooms are simple, dorm-like housing, although they have recently constructed six new premium rooms. All rooms have a bathroom and two twin beds. If you select shared accommodations, you will be paired with one same-gender retreat participant, unless you make arrangements with someone in particular and let us know. You may also register for a room to yourself or select the commuter option and travel to the retreat each day from home or nearby hotel.

Your retreat fee includes the workshop, accommodations and nine delicious meals. The commuter fee includes the retreat plus meals. All dietary needs can be accommodated.

New students signing up for this cohort receive a $50 discount on the retreat fee. A $200 deposit reserves your space in this retreat. (It will sell out!)

Saturday, March 5

4 – 6 pm:  Songwriting
6pm:  Dinner
7 – 9pm:  Songplay! (plus chocolate)

Sunday, March 6
8am:  Breakfast & Checkout
9:30am – 12pm:  Songleading Practicum and Closing Circle
12pm – 2pm:  Lunch and goodbyes

Travel to the Event

If you are traveling from out of town, we can support you in getting from the airport to the retreat center. If you fly in you will want to look at fares to San Francisco SFO (2-2.5 hrs away), San Jose SJC (1.5-2 hrs away) or Monterey MRY (30 minutes away).

  1. Complete the registration form.
  2. Complete your payment ($200 deposit or payment in full.) If you are registering for the next cohort you can pay when you purchase the course. If you are a past cohort participant, please pay using the button below.

Otherwise:

Your retreat deposit is fully refundable until January 17th. If you cancel between January 17 – February 14, 2020 your deposit is not refundable but the remainder of your retreat price will be refunded.

Payment is due in full by February 14th, after which time your complete retreat payment is exchangeable but non-refundable. You are welcome to find another Flight School student to take your place if you need to cancel.
