Blessed We Are & Sol Qi

This arrangement is a mashup of two soulful, celebratory songs, Blessed We Are by Peia Luzzi and Sol Qi by Lisa G. Littlebird & Zan Moore. Most of the arrangement is in two voice parts, with moments of four part harmony, sung with guitar and drum.

An awesome, full version of Sol Qi can be found on Lisa’s band Raganova’s album, Ascención. Get it here.

Lyrics

Blessed We Are

Blessed we are to dance on this ground
With the rhythm of saints to carry the sound
Say a prayer for the earth and the ones yet to come
May you walk in beauty and remember your song

Blessed we are to dance on this ground
With the rhythm of saints to carry the sound
Say a prayer for all life and the days yet to come
May you walk in beauty and remember your song

Remember why you came here,
remember your life is sacred

Wayayay, yay yay, yay yay yo (x6)

Sol Qi/ Soul Key

Somos todos hijos del sol aquí (We are all children of the sun here)
Tejidos de oro y son (Woven of gold and sound)
Somos todos hijos del sol aquí (We are all children of the sun here)
En la luz de nuestra canció(In the light of our song)

We are all children of the sun here
Woven of fire and gold
We are all children of the sun here
Let your song unfold

Teaching Notes

This song arrangement for oral-tradition chorus is time-intensive to learn in that there are quite a few lyrics with some in Spanish, many transitions and some moments of lush four-part harmony. It is wonderfully diverse in feel, moving from slow reverence into celebratory joy.

The recording is in D minor.
