As I Relax

The Bird Sings Oral Tradition Song Library

As I Relax

Thank you Lyndsey Scott for another perfect mantra to keep us on track. This song is a particular joy because the first sections of the first and third lines are call and response, with all voices joining on the 2nd and 4th lines together in harmony. This song also works great with a strong downbeat, either held by a drum or body, or maybe just felt as a rumble in the soul.

This song was part of Lisa’s 2020 The World We are Dreaming Playlist project, and all contributing artists gave their permission to have their songs from that playlist be added to this library. Individual parts recordings are not yet available.

Lyrics

As I relax I know my needs are met

And I live my life in joyous anticipation

This draws in what I most desire

So I can live my life in full on participation

A Note About the Song from Lyndsey:

Once upon a spiritual direction session, Carolyn Griffeth dosed me with the first half of this mantra, to help slow down and shift habits of perfectionism + rigidity + fear that keep me from playing this divine Game with my whole heart. I promptly invited the melody to catch & encode it deeper and …. voila, this ‘lil ditty came right on in.

How Is this Song Creating the World We Want?

“No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.”  ~ Albert Einstein

The scripts of white supremacy I carry and am working on decomposing, I’m often blind to. Slowing down helps me cut through the habit of Separation. To co-create the world we dream requires an embodied trust & interbeing that singing helps me shift into. I hope this mantra helps us remember to consciously release stress and anchor nervous system suppleness so we can receive the sacred breadcrumbs strewn along the path of each our soul’s greatest adventure.
